Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 7, Angels 2 at California (night game):
A pair of homers by Ken Singleton and another by Rich Dauer helped the Orioles to a 7-2 conquest of the Angels. Dauer connected in the first inning. A bases-loaded single by Rick Dempsey highlighted a three-run second inning. Singleton led off the third with his first round-tripper and hit his second to lead off the fifth.

Indians 7, Twins 2 at Cleveland (day game):
Exploding for five runs in the first inning, the Indians went on to a 7-2 thumping of the Twins. The Indians sent nine batters to the plate in their getaway as losing pitcher Roger Erickson walked three batters and served up back-to-back doubles to Bobby Bonds and Andre Thornton. Bonds hit a homer in the second and Thornton added the Indians' last run with a blast in the seventh.

Royals 5, White Sox 0 at Kansas City (night game):
Spacing seven hits, Dennis Leonard pitched the Royals to a 5-0 victory over the White Sox. Frank White hit Lerrin LaGrow's first pitch of the game into the left field seats. Willie Wilson led off the third inning with a single, stole second and came around on consecutive groundouts by White and Hal McRae. Wilson also led off the fifth with a single, stole second and third and scored on a passed ball.

Yankees 3, A's 1 at Oakland (night game):
A pair of unearned runs in the ninth inning carried the Yankees to a 3-1 decision over the A's. The score was 1-1 entering the ninth when Bucky Dent stroked a single. Dave Heaverlo replaced John Henry Johnson on the hill for the A's and induced Mickey Rivers to ground out as Dent advanced to second. After Willie Randolph walked, Thurman Munson hit a grounder back to Heaverlo, who threw wildly past first base as Dent and Randolph dashed home.

Red Sox 4, Mariners 3 at Seattle (night game):
A sacrifice fly by Larry Wolfe in the 12th inning drove home the decisive run as the Red Sox edged the Mariners, 4-3, Seattle's ninth consecutive defeat. In the 12th, Butch Hobson beat out an infield hit with one out. A double by Jim Dwyer and an intentional walk to Bob Montgomery loaded the sacks. Wolfe then hit a fly ball to left field and Hobson beat Joe Simpson's throw to the plate.

Blue Jays 2, Rangers 0 at Texas (night game):
Allowing just one hit, Dave Lemanczyk hurled the Blue Jays to a 2-0 triumph over the Rangers. Lemanczyk's no-hit hid was spoiled early when Pat Putnam singled in the third inning.

Cardinals 6, Braves 5 at Atlanta (night game):
A homer by Ted Simmons with two out in the 10th inning enabled the Cardinals to edge Braves, 6-5. The Braves had rallied to tie the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the eighth on a homer by Gary Matthews, single by Mike Lum, double by Barry Bonnell and two-run single by Pepe Frias.

Pirates 9, Reds 2 at Cincinnati (night game):
Homers by John Milner and Dave Parker highlighted a 17-hit attack that carried the Pirates to a 9-2 rout of the Reds. The Bucs got a pair of runs in the first inning on a single by Omar Moreno, triple by Parker and single by Willie Stargell. Four runs followed in the fourth on singles by Ed Ott, Rennie Stennett, Bill Robinson and Tim Foli and a triple by Moreno. Milner homered with one on in the fifth and Parker added a solo blast in the ninth.

Expos 5, Padres 1 at Montreal (day game):
A four-run outburst in the second inning carried the Expos to a 5-1 victory over the Padres. A homer by Ellis Valentine ignited the big frame. Singles by Gary Carter, Larry Parrish and Chris Speier made the score 2-0, Andre Dawson hit an RBI single and Rodney Scott hit an RBI double.

Mets 10, Giants 3 at New York (night game):
Joel Youngblood knocked in three runs with a homer to spark the Mets to a 10-3 triumph over the Giants in a game protested by both teams after a delay of 28 minutes in arguments over a controversial call. With Met runners on first and third and none out in the first inning, Lee Mazzilli lined a shot to deep right-center that Jack Clark caught as Frank Taveras tagged and scored from third. Clark, however, then dropped the ball and his throw to second caught Richie Hebner, who had not tagged up from first, thinking the ball had been dropped. The umpires ruled Clark had caught the ball but returned Hebner to first in a compromise situation since Hebner saw one umpire signal that the ball had been dropped. Willie Montanez walked when play resumed and Youngblood hit his three-run homer.

Phillies 7, Dodgers 6 at Philadelphia (night game):
Starring both on the mound and at the plate, Ron Reed keyed the Phillies to a 7-6 triumph over the Dodgers in 10 innings. After taking over in the ninth and stopping the Dodgers for two turns at bat, Reed stroked a two-out double in the bottom of the 10th and scored the winning run on a single by Larry Bowa.
