Tigers 2, A's 0 at Oakland (day game):
Turning in the first complete-game shutout by the Tigers' staff this season, Dave Rozema defeated the A's, 2-0. The Tigers scored their first run in the fifth inning on singles by John Wockenfuss and Aurelio Rodriguez and a sacrifice fly by Mark Wagner. Lance Parrish clouted a solo homer in the seventh.

Mariners 10, Blue Jays 5 at Seattle (day game):
A grand-slam homer by Dan Meyer highlighted the Mariners' 10-5 victory over the Blue Jays. The Mariners trailed, 2-1, entering the bottom of third when singles by Julio Cruz and Bruce Bochte and a walk to Ruppert Jones loaded the bases. Meyer then unloaded his fifth round-tripper of the season and second slam.
