Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 4, Indians 3 at Baltimore (night game):
Dealing the Indians their ninth straight defeat, the Orioles gained a 4-3 victory. After three walks loaded the bases in the Orioles' fourth, Rich Dauer drove in two runs with a double and Rick Dempsey added a third tally with a grounder. Ken Singleton smashed a homer in the seventh.

Tigers 6, Red Sox 4 at Detroit (night game):
Paced by Champ Summers, who had a homer, two singles and three RBIs, the Tigers came from behind to defeat the Red Sox, 6-4. Summers cracked a solo homer in the second inning and a two-run single in the eighth inning. The Tigers' winning rally in the eighth began when reliever Bill Campbell issued two-out walks to Steve Kemp and Jason Thompson. Dick Drago replaced Campbell and hit Lance Parrish with a pitch to load the bases. Summers followed with his two-run single and Aurelio Rodriguez greeted reliever Bob Stanley with a run-scoring single. Rodriguez belted a homer in the seventh inning following a single by Summers. The Red Sox were stopped on their five-game winning streak.

Royals 7, A's 6 at Kansas City (night game):
A bases-loaded single by George Scott in the 10th inning broke a 6-6 tie and gave the Royals a 7-6 victory over the A's. George Brett led off the Royals' extra frame with a double and moved to third on a single by Amos Otis. After Darrell Porter was intentionally walked, Scott delivered the decisive blow. The Royals trailed, 6-4, entering the ninth, but tied the game on RBI singles by Pete LaCock and Steve Braun.

Twins 8, Brewers 7 at Minnesota (night game):
A throwing error by right fielder Ben Oglivie enabled the Twins to score the winning run in an 8-7 victory over the Brewers. The score was 7-7 in the ninth inning when Ron Jackson drew a two-out walk. He raced to third on a single by Jose Morales and continued home when Oglivie missed the relay man on the throw back to the infield. The Brewers, who blew a 6-0 lead to fall behind, 7-6, had tied the game at 7-7 in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Cecil Cooper, who had four hits.

Mariners 3, White Sox 2 at Seattle (night game):
Pushing across two runs in the eighth inning, the Mariners came from behind to down the White Sox, 3-2. The Mariners trailed, 2-1, but tied the score after one out in the eighth on successive singles by Bruce Bochte, Willie Horton and Dan Meyer. A walk to Leon Roberts loaded the bases before Tom Paciorek, batting for Joe Simpson, lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring John Hale, running for Horton.

Rangers 2, Angels 1 at Texas (night game):
An eighth-inning homer by Billy Sample snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted the Rangers to a 2-1 triumph over the Angels. The first Ranger run came in the second inning on a double by pat Putnam, single by Sample and sacrifice fly by Johnny Grubb. The Angels tied the count in the third on a homer by Jim Anderson.

Yankees 11, Blue Jays 2 at Toronto (night game):
Jumping off to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, the Yankees went on to an 11-2 rout of the Blue Jays. Chris Chambliss drove in the first Yankee run with a sacrifice fly, Graig Nettles stroked a two-run single and Jim Spencer capped the outburst with a two-run homer. Luis Tiant struck out seven and walked two in notching his second complete game.

Phillies 5, Cubs 3 at Chicago (day game):
A homer by Mike Schmidt with two men on base climaxed a four-run sixth inning that carried the Phillies to a 5-3 victory over the Cubs. The Phils trailed, 3-0, entering the sixth and scored their first run on singles by Greg Gross and Bake McBride and a wild pitch. Pete Rose then beat out an infield hit before Schmidt connected off reliever Donnie Moore. Bob Boone added a solo smash in the ninth.

Astros 6, Reds 5 at Houston (night game):
The Astros rallied for five runs in the eighth inning to edge the Reds, 6-5. The Reds led, 5-1, going into the bottom of the eighth when Cesar Cedeno began the Astros' surge with a one-out single. After Jose Cruz walked and Enos Cabell struck out, pinch-hitter Denny Walling slammed a three-run homer to kayo Red starter Paul Moskau in favor of Doug Bair. Alan Ashby singled and Rafael Landestoy walked before Jesus Alou lined a pinch-double off the left field wall to plate both runners. The Reds had taken an early lead on the strength of a pair of homers by George Foster, a three-run shot in the first inning and solo blast in the fifth.

Padres 5, Dodgers 1 at Los Angeles (night game):
Bob Shirley scattered 11 hits in pitching the Padres to a 5-1 triumph over the Dodgers. With the Padres trailing, 1-0, in the fourth inning, Dave Winfield and Gene Tenace walked. A single by Jay Johnstone scored Winfield and Fernando Gonzalez followed with a three-run homer. The Padres added a tally in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Tenace.

Pirates 2, Mets 1 at New York (night game):
Celebrating his 36th birthday, Bill Robinson smacked a homer in the seventh inning to break a 1-1 tie and lift the Pirates to a 2-1 triumph over the Mets. The Pirates' first run came in the opening frame on a walk to Tim Foli and triple by John Milner. Bert Blyleven got credit for his fifth straight victory.

Giants 6, Braves 5 at San Francisco (night game):
A pinch-hit homer by Darrell Evans leading off the ninth inning gave the Giants a 6-5 decision over the Braves. The Giants had taken a 5-0 lead in the first on a leadoff homer by Bill North, bases-loaded walk to Hector Cruz, infield out by Johnnie LeMaster and two-out single by Marc Hill. The Braves scored three runs in the sixth, another in the seventh and tied the contest in the eighth on a fielder's choice grounder by Pepe Frias.

Expos 5, Cardinals 3 at St. Louis (night game):
Knocking in two runs with a sixth-inning single, Ross Grimsley sparked the Expos to a 5-3 victory over the Cardinals. The Montreal southpaw got credit for the win, getting effective relief help from Stan Bahnsen and Woodie Fryman. The Expos were behind, 2-1, going into the sixth, when they loaded the bases on singles by Tony Perez and Gary Carter and an intentional walk to Larry Parrish. An infield out by pinch-hitter Tommy Hutton plated one run before Grimsley singled off John Denny's glove to cap the three-run uprising.
