Today's scores and summaries:

Indians 6, Orioles 3 at Baltimore (night game):
The Indians ended their 10-game losing streak by beating the Orioles, 6-3. Ron Hassey led the Tribe's attack with a single and double, good for three RBIs. In the second inning, a single by Toby Harrah, double by Mike Hargrove and single by Hassey produced the first two runs. Hassey doubled home a pair in the fourth after a double by Harrah, walk to Hargrove and a forceout. Andre Thornton blasted a homer in the fifth.

Tigers 6, Red Sox 3 at Detroit (night game):
A three-run homer by Champ Summers, his third circuit clout in as many games, highlighted the Tigers' 6-3 victory over the Red Sox. Summers' blast came in the fifth inning off Sox starter and loser Steve Renko.

Royals 7, A's 6 at Kansas City (night game):
Extending their winning streak to six games, the Royals came from behind to down the A's, 7-6. The Royals trailed, 6-5, going into the bottom of the ninth, when Jamie Quirk began the winning rally with a single and was replaced by pinch-runner U.L. Washington. A sacrifice moved Washington to second and after George Brett was walked intentionally, Amos Otis tied the game with a single to center. After Darrell Porter received an intentional pass to load the bases, Jim Todd replaced Dave Heaverlo on the hill for the A's. Al Cowens ripped Todd's first serve into right field to plate Brett with the winning run.

Brewers 6, Twins 5 at Minnesota (day game):
A two-out homer by Ben Oglivie in the 10th inning lifted the Brewers to a 6-5 victory over the Twins. The Twins had tied the score with two runs in the bottom of the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Butch Wynegar and single by Bombo Rivera.

White Sox 2, Mariners 1 at Seattle (day game):
Snapping a six-game losing streak, the White Sox edged the Mariners, 2-1. The White Sox scored a run in the first inning on a triple by Ralph Garr and single by Jorge Orta. Their second tally came in the ninth on singles by Claudell Washington, Lamar Johnson and Chet Lemon.

Rangers 14, Angels 4 at Texas (night game):
Sending 12 batters to the plate and collecting nine hits and eight runs in the first inning, the Rangers enjoyed a 14-4 rout of the Angels. Bump Wills had two hits in the big frame, opening with a single and driving home the eighth run with a double.

Yankees 5, Blue Jays 3 at Toronto (night game):
Pushing across two runs in the 10th inning, the Yankees prevailed over the Blue Jays, 5-3. With one out, Lou Piniella singled and Jim Spencer doubled to break a 3-3 tie. Spencer then scored an insurance run when Jay pitcher Mark Lemongello threw Graig Nettles' comebacker wildly past first base.

Reds 2, Dodgers 1 at Los Angeles (night game):
Tom Hume and Doug Bair combined on a six-hitter as the Reds defeated the Dodgers, 2-1. The Reds' runs came in the first inning. Dave Concepcion stroked a leadoff single and scored on a double by Joe Morgan. An infield out advanced Morgan to third where he was in position to score on a sacrifice fly by George Foster.

Mets 3, Pirates 2 at Pittsburgh (night game):
A homer by John Stearns provided the winning margin as the Mets edged the Pirates, 3-2. The circuit clout came in the seventh inning with two out and gave the New Yorkers a 3-1 lead. The Mets scored twice in the first inning, one run coming on a double by Richie Hebner and the other on a wild pitch by Buc starter Jim Bibby.

Padres 6, Braves 5 at San Diego (day game):
A four-run outburst in the fifth inning carried the Padres to a 6-5 decision over the Braves. The rally began with two out when Paul Dade hit a pop-fly double. Dan Briggs followed with a single to break a 2-2 tie. Jerry Turner followed with a double and Gene Tenace with a single to add two tallies. After Mickey Mahler relieved starter Tony Brizzolara for the Braves, a single by Bill Almon produced the final run of the the inning.

Astros 6, Giants 5 at San Francisco (night game):
After falling behind by four runs in the first inning, the Astros came back to nip the Giants, 6-5. The Astros picked up two tallies in the third inning on a walk to Terry Puhl, an infield out, a single by Cesar Cedeno and double by Enos Cabell. They added four more in the fourth frame on a leadoff homer by Alan Ashby, a base on balls, fielder's choice and consecutive singles by Puhl, Craig Reynolds and Cedeno.
