Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 7, A's 4 at Baltimore (night game):
A pinch-hit grand slam by Pat Kelly in the eighth inning rallied the Orioles to a 7-4 decision over the A's. With the score 3-3, the Orioles began the winning uprising with a single by Ken Singleton. Eddie Murray followed with a walk and Dave Hamilton relieved Matt Keough on the hill for the A's. After a sacrifice bunt by John Lowenstein, Dave Heaverlo took over for Hamilton and walked Doug DeCinces intentionally. Kelly then unloaded his fourth career bases-loaded homer.

Angels 9, Red Sox 2 at Boston (night game):
A six-run explosion in the first inning propelled the Angels to a 9-2 drubbing of the Red Sox. Rod Carew led off the game with a double and Carney Lansford was safe on a fielder's choice. A single by Dan Ford scored Carew and an infield out by Don Baylor drove in Lansford. Starter Joel Finch then walked the next two batters and Joe Rudi greeted reliever Dick Drago with a homer, his 12th career grand slam. In the eighth inning, the Red Sox turned their second triple play against the Angels this season. With the bases loaded, Willie Aikens lined to Rick Burleson, who stepped on second to double Ford before throwing to first to erase Baylor. It was the seventh triple play in the A. L. this season, tying the major league record.

Indians 5, Brewers 4 at Cleveland (night game):
Playing their first game under interim manager Dave Garcia, the Indians rallied for four runs in the sixth inning to edge the Brewers, 5-4, ending Milwaukee's 10-game winning streak. The Tribe trailed, 4-1, in the sixth, and scored their first two runs on an infield single by Jim Norris and a homer by Bobby Bonds. After Toby Harrah and Mike Hargrove singled with two out, Reggie Cleveland relieved Brewer starter Lary Sorensen and walked Ron Hassey to fill the bases. Duane Kuiper then snapped an 0-for-14 streak with a two-run single.

White Sox 11, Tigers 3 at Detroit (night game):
Paced by Mike Squires, who collected four hits, the White Sox enjoyed an 11-3 rout of the Tigers. Squires singled in the first inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Alan Bannister. He doubled in the fifth and scored on a double by Jorge Orta. Squires also drove in two runs with a sixth-inning single.

Twins 7, Blue Jays 6 at Minnesota (night game):
A wild pitch gave the Twins the winning run in a 7-6 victory over the Blue Jays. The score was 6-6 with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning when Bombo Rivera lined a triple off the center field fence off Mark Lemongello. Rob Wilfong and Hosken Powell were walked intentionally to load the bases but Lemongello then uncorked a wild pitch, enabling Rivera to score from third. The Twins had tied the contest in the sixth on a two-run homer by Danny Goodwin.

Yankees 6, Mariners 2 at New York (night game):
Homers by Chris Chambliss and Jim Spencer highlighted the Yankees' 6-2 victory over the Mariners. Chambliss snapped a 1-1 tie in the third inning with a solo blast and capped a two-run fifth inning with a sacrifice fly. Spencer belted a two-run round-tripper in the eighth.

Royals 5, Rangers 4 at Texas (night game):
George Brett collected three hits and drove in two runs to lead the Royals to a 5-4 victory over the Rangers. Brett hit an RBI single in the third inning and later scored on a single by Pete LaCock. A double by Steve Braun and single by Brett produced a 3-1 Royal lead in the fifth and Frank White drilled a solo homer in the sixth. The eventual winning run came in the eighth when Al Cowens walked, advanced to second on a sacrifice and scored on a double by Willie Wilson. Pat Putnam clouted a three-run homer for Texas in the ninth.

Cubs 2, Reds 1 at Chicago (day game):
The Cubs posted a pair of wins over the Reds, 9-8 in 18 innings, and 2-1. The first contest was the completion of a game suspended from May 10 with the score tied, 7-7, after nine innings. The Cubs won in the bottom of the 18th when Ken Henderson stroked a leadoff single and took second on a sacrifice. After an intentional walk to Dave Kingman, Steve Ontiveros singled to plate Henderson with the winning run. An RBI single by Junior Kennedy in the top of 11th had given the Reds an 8-7 lead but the Cubs tied it in the bottom of frame on singles by Bill Buckner, Kingman and Ontiveros. In the second game, the Reds carried a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth when Larry Biittner hit a leadoff single. Pinch-runner Miguel Dilone stole second. Kingman then belted the ball over the left field wall for a two-run homer that won the game.

Dodgers 3, Mets 1 at Los Angeles (night game):
Hurling his first complete game of the year, Jerry Reuss pitched the Dodgers to a 3-1 victory over the Mets. The Dodgers scored twice in the first inning as Davey Lopes singled, took third on a single by Bill Russell and came home on an infield out by Steve Garvey. A two-out single by Dusty Baker plated Russell. Lopes hit an inside-the-park homer in the sixth inning as Met outfielders Dan Norman and Lee Mazzilli collided while chasing his line drive.

[DH] Pirates 7, Braves 1 (night game) / Braves 8, Pirates 0 at Pittsburgh (night game):
The Braves and Pirates split a doubleheader, the Bucs winning the opener, 7-1, and the Braves stopping the Pirates' nine-game winning streak in the nightcap, 8-0, behind the two-hit pitching of Phil Niekro. In the first game, Tim Foli went 3-for-5 and drove in four runs to pace the Pirate attack. The Pirates turned a triple play in the second inning. With runners on first and second, Niekro hit a grounder to third baseman Bill Madlock, who stepped on third for a forceout, threw to second baseman Phil Garner for the second out and Garner's throw to first baseman Willie Stargell beat Niekro to complete the first triple play in the N. L. this season.

Padres 6, Phillies 5 at San Diego (night game):
Heroics by Dave Winfield lifted the Padres to a 6-5 triumph over the Phillies. With the Padres trailing, 5-3, in the eighth inning, Winfield clouted a two-run homer to tie the game. In the bottom of the ninth, Winfield delivered the game-winning single after Gene Richards legged out an infield hit and reached second on a throwing error by Phil shortstop Bud Harrelson. Ozzie Smith then received an intentional walk. After Gene Tenace popped out, Winfield delivered the decisive blow.

Expos 8, Giants 3 at San Francisco (night game):
