After a walk to Fred Stanley loaded the bases, Randolph clouted his three-bagger.

Extending their winning streak to eight games, the Indians prevailed over the Red Sox, 6-5. The score was 4-4 in the eighth inning when Gary Alexander snapped the tie with a solo homer. Greene then hit a fly ball deep to left field off Ranger reliever Jim Kern. A ninth-inning single by Jerry Morales drove home an insurance run for the Tigers.
