Today's scores and summaries:

Yankees 5, Orioles 4 at New York (night game):
Driving in all of his team's runs, Bobby Murcer led the Yankees to a 5-4 triumph over the Orioles. With the Yankees behind, 4-0, in the seventh inning, Murcer unloaded a three-run homer. Bucky Dent opened the Yankee ninth with a walk and went to third when Willie Randolph's sacrifice bunt was thrown into right field by Bird pitcher Tippy Martinez. Randolph reached second on the play. Murcer then followed with a shot into the left field corner that scored the tying and winning runs.

Angels 5, A's 2 at Oakland (night game):
Blasting a three-run homer in the second inning and run-scoring double in the fifth, Bobby Grich led the Angels' attack in a 5-2 decision over the A's. Ralph Botting yielded only three hits in 7 2/3 innings and, with help from Mark Clear, picked up his second victory in the majors.

Mariners 7, Twins 4 at Seattle (night game):
Driving in three runs with a triple and single, Larry Cox paced the Mariners to a 7-4 triumph over the Twins. The Mariners scored four times in the third inning as Cox and Willie Horton each hit RBI singles and Julio Cruz and Bruce Bochte each produced run-scoring doubles. Cox unloaded a two-run triple in the sixth stanza and the Mariners' final marker came in the eighth frame on a run-scoring single by Mario Mendoza.

Royals 16, Blue Jays 12 at Toronto (night game):
In a Pier 6 donnybrook, the Royals outlasted the Blue Jays, 16-12. K.C. scored 11 runs in the seventh, three driven home on two singles by Freddie Patek. Reds 3, Braves 1 at Cincinnati (night game):
Mike LaCoss raised his record to 12-4 as the Reds prevailed over the Braves, 3-1. The Reds tallied twice in their first turn at bat when they filled the bases on walks, Ray Knight delivered a sacrifice fly and Hector Cruz belted a double. They added their third run in the fifth frame when Johnny Bench singled, took third on a single by Knight and came home when Brave second baseman Jerry Royster mishandled the throw from the outfield.

Giants 7, Dodgers 1 at Los Angeles (day game):
