Today's scores and summaries:

White Sox 10, Angels 7 at California (night game):
Overcoming an early 7-2 deficit, the White Sox rallied to down the Angels, 10-7. The White Sox tied the score with a five-run explosion in the sixth inning, the key blows being a two-run double by Claudell Washington and two-run single by Jim Morrison. Then in the eighth, Milt May stroked a one-out single and was replaced by Alan Bannister as pinch-runner. Bannister moved to second when Thad Bosley walked and, with two out, scored on a single by Greg Pryor. Chet Lemon added insurance with a two-run homer in the ninth.

Indians 5, Tigers 3 at Cleveland (night game):
Driving in four runs with a homer and single, Bobby Bonds paced the Indians to a 5-3 victory over the Tigers. The Tribe struck in the first inning when the first two batters walked on eight pitches and Bonds drove an 0-1 pitch over the left field fence. A triple by Tom Veryzer, double by Mike Hargrove and single by Bonds gave the Indians two more runs in the second.

Twins 5, Royals 1 at Minnesota (night game):
Unfurling a two hitter, Jerry Koosman posted his 18th victory of the season as the Twins copped a 5-1 decision over the Royals. The Twins loaded the bases in the first inning on a double, infield single and hit batsman and Dave Edwards then drove home two runs with a single. The Twins picked up another pair in the fifth on doubles by Bombo Rivera and Butch Wynegar, a sacrifice and a wild pitch. Ron Jackson clouted a homer in the sixth.

Yankees 3, Red Sox 2 at New York (night game):
The Yankees edged the Red Sox, 3-2, with the winning run coming home on an error by Ted Sizemore. The score was 1-1 in the eighth inning when Willie Randolph drilled a one-out double. After Oscar Gamble walked, Reggie Jackson hit a grounder to shortstop Rick Burleson, who threw to second to force Gamble, but Sizemore's relay to first was wild and Randolph raced home with the decisive tally. The Yanks had tied the contest in the seventh on a single by Jackson and homer by Chris Chambliss.

Rangers 5, Mariners 2 at Seattle (night game):
With Steve Comer firing a four-hitter, the Rangers defeated the Mariners, 5-2, for their fourth straight victory. The Rangers scored three runs in the first inning. Mickey Rivers led off the game with a double, Bump Wills walked and both moved up on a groundout by Al Oliver. A single by Buddy Bell plated two tallies and a double by Pat Putnam drove in Bell. Cardinals 6, Cubs 4 at Chicago (day game):
Taking advantage of errors, the Cardinals downed the Cubs, 6-4. The Cards scored an unearned run in the first inning when Garry Templeton singled, reached third when the ball rolled between left fielder Dave Kingman's legs and came home on a single by Jerry Mumphrey. They added two more in the sixth when Mumphrey reached first on an error by third baseman Steve Ontiveros, went to third on a double by Keith Hernandez and scored on an infield out by George Hendrick. A wild pitch enabled Hernandez to score. Cub catcher Barry Foote dropped a throw from the outfield in the seventh, letting in two more runs. Kingman hit his 43rd homer for the Cubs.
