Brewers 9, Orioles 1 at Milwaukee (night game):
Back-to-back homers by Don Money and Sixto Lezcano highlighted a five-run first inning that powered the Brewers to a 9-1 victory over the Orioles. Robin Yount began the Milwaukee attack with a one-out single, moved to second on a walk to Cecil Cooper and scored on a single by Dick Davis. Money then connected for a three-run round-tripper and Lezcano followed with a solo blast.

Mariners 4, Tigers 3 at Seattle (night game):
Coming from behind, the Mariners scored four times in the ninth inning to edge the Tigers, 4-3. The winning surge began when Rodney Craig singled with one out, advanced to second on a walk to Bill Stein and scored on a single by Ted Cox. After Bob Stinson walked to load the bases and was replaced by pinch-runner Tom Paciorek, Aurelio Lopez took over for Jack Morris on the mound for the Tigers. A single by Joe Simpson drove in two runs and tied the score. Jim Anderson was walked intentionally to reload the bases. Dan Meyer then hit a grounder to first baseman Lance Parrish, who threw wild to the plate as Paciorek scored the winning run.

Padres 9, Cubs 6 at Chicago (day game):
Bruce Sutter was the losing pitcher as the Padres erupted for four runs in the eighth inning to post a 9-6 triumph over the Cubs. The Padres trailed, 6-4, entering the eighth, when Dave Winfield walked and went to third on a double by Willie Montanez that brought Sutter to the mound in relief of starter Rick Reuschel. Winfield came home on a single by Bill Fahey, who was replaced by pinch-runner Paul Dade. After pinch-hitter Jerry Turner received an intentional walk, a single by Kurt Bevacqua plated Montanez and Dade.
