Today's scores and summaries:

Royals 13, Red Sox 8 at Boston (day game):
U.L. Washington drove in four runs and Darrell Porter knocked in three, including two with his first homer of the year, to lead the Royals to a 13-8 victory over the Red Sox, who lost in spite of five RBIs by Dwight Evans. The Royals rapped four Red Sox pitchers for 18 hits, with Willie Wilson having a 4-for-6 day. Dennis Eckersley, who started for the Red Sox, was kayoed in the first inning when the Royals scored five runs, two on Porter's homer and two on a bases-loaded single by Washington. A double by Washington produced two of the Royals' four runs in the third.

Tigers 6, Angels 1 at California (night game):
The Angels' losing streak was extended to five games with a 6-1 defeat by the Tigers. Lance Parrish collected a double and two singles for the Tigers, driving in three runs, and Dave Stegman hit a homer. Dan Schatzeder held the Angels to five singles in going the first seven innings before Dave Rozema, making his first relief appearance in the majors after 78 starts, took over and finished the game.

Brewers 5, Orioles 3 at Milwaukee (day game):
After breaking a 1-1 tie with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, Paul Molitor singled and drove in another run in the seventh when the Brewers scored three times to defeat the Orioles, 5-3. Dan Graham, Orioles rookie catcher, homered in the fifth for his first major league hit.

Twins 1, Yankees 0 at New York (night game):
A single by Ken Landreaux in the 11th inning scored Butch Wynegar and gave the Twins a 1-0 victory over the Yankees, who were stopped on their six-game winning streak. Wynegar opened the stanza with a single and moved up on a sacrifice by Jesus Vega before scoring on Landreaux's hit.

A's 4, Blue Jays 3 at Oakland (day game):
Tony Armas tied the score with a two-run homer in the seventh inning and then drove in a run with a single in the ninth to bring the A's a 4-3 victory over the Blue Jays. Damaso Garcia homered with a man on base and Al Woods provided a solo shot to give the Blue Jays a 3-1 lead before Wayne Gross walked and Armas knotted the count in the seventh. Dave Revering opened the ninth with a single and gave way to pinch-runner Mike Edwards. After a sacrifice by Gross and intentional pass to Jeff Newman, Armas delivered his winning single.

Indians 5, Mariners 3 at Seattle (night game):
Mike Hargrove hit safely in his 20th straight game and Jorge Orta in his 17th as the Indians defeated the Mariners, 5-3. Hargrove batted in the Indians' first run with a single in the first inning. Orta plated a pair with a single in the second. Tom Veryzer also had two RBIs for the Indians.

White Sox 10, Rangers 6 at Texas (day game):
Driving in five runs, Jim Morrison paced the White Sox to a 10-6 victory over the Rangers. Morrison accounted for two runs with a double in the third inning when the White Sox took a 5-1 lead. After the Rangers tied the game at 5-5, the White Sox regained the lead with two runs in the eighth on singles by Morrison and Harold Baines, an error by Bump Wills and single by pinch-hitter Mike Squires. Morrison then clinched the decision with the three-run homer in the ninth.

Astros 3, Braves 2 at Atlanta (night game):
A pass to Terry Puhl with the bases loaded and two out in the 11th inning handed the Astros a 3-2 victory over the Braves. Jose Cruz led off the frame with a single and Enos Cabell walked. After a sacrifice by Dave Bergman, Alan Ashby was passed intentionally to load the bases. Pinch-hitter Rafael Landestoy forced Cruz at the plate for the second out. Al Hrabosky then relieved and walked Puhl to force in Cabell.
