Red Sox 6, Indians 2 at Cleveland (night game):
Tony Perez drove in three runs with a double and homer to pace the Red Sox to a 6-2 victory over the Indians. The Red Sox scored three times in the second inning on a two-run triple by Carlton Fisk and sacrifice fly by Carl Yastrzemski. Perez accounted for an RBI with a double in the third and smacked a two-run round-tripper in the eighth. Indians first baseman Mike Hargrove ran his consecutive hitting streak to 23 games.

White Sox 6, Brewers 4 at Milwaukee (day game):
Scattering four hits through six innings. Rich Dotson received credit for his fourth victory of the season as the White Sox defeated the Brewers, 6-4. The White Sox got on the board in their first turn at bat when Chet Lemon drilled a solo homer, picked up another tally in the second on a single by Claudell Washington and iced the game in the seventh with a four-run outburst that was climaxed with a three-run pinch-double by Wayne Nordhagen.

Blue Jays 1, Mariners 0 at Toronto (night game):
Three-hit pitching by Jim Clancy carried the Blue Jays to a 1-0 triumph over the Mariners. The lone run scored in the second inning when Damaso Garcia stroked a one-out single, stole second and raced home on a single by Barry Bonnell.

Padres 2, Cardinals 1 at San Diego (night game):
The Padres pushed across a run in the seventh inning to shade the Cardinals, 2-1. Dave Winfield led off with a bloop double, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Jerry Mumphrey and tallied when Willie Montanez lined a single to left.

Pirates 3, Giants 2 at San Francisco (day game):
A single by Bill Madlock in the 12th inning drove home the winning run as the Pirates edged the Giants, 3-2. Ed Ott opened the stanza with a single, went to second on a sacrifice by Dale Berra and came home when Madlock grounded a single up the middle. The Giants had taken a 2-1 lead in the seventh on a two-run homer by Jack Clark, but the Pirates tied the contest in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Bill Robinson.
