Blue Jays 1, A's 0 at Toronto (night game):
A run-scoring single by Roy Howell in the 11th inning broke up a pitchers' duel and gave the Blue Jays a 1-0 victory over the A's. Mike Norris, who had won five straight games previously, was the loser in a four-hit battle with Jesse Jefferson. Pinch-hitter Bob Bailor drew a walk to open the 11th and Alfredo Griffin sacrificed. After an intentional pass to Rick Bosetti, both runners advanced on an infield out by Al Woods. Although first base was open, the A's chose to pitch to Howell, who came through with his game-winning single.
