Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 6, Angels 5 at California (night game):
Fifth-inning errors by Freddie Patek and Carney Lansford led to four unearned runs and a 6-5 loss to the Orioles, the Angels' 12th defeat in their last 14 home games. Doug DeCinces drove in a pair of runs with a single in the fifth and brought home the deciding tally with a double in the seventh.

Brewers 5, Tigers 3 at Milwaukee (night game):
Dick Davis knocked in three runs with a homer and single to lead the Brewers to a 5-3 victory over the Tigers. Davis gave Milwaukee a 2-0 lead in the first with a homer after a single by Jim Gantner, and his single in the third drove in what proved to be the winning run.

Twins 3, Blue Jays 2 at Minnesota (day game):
A bouncer off the bat of Mike Cubbage with two out in the seventh caromed off the glove of second baseman Damaso Garcia for a hit that drove in Rob Wilfong with the winning run in the Twins' 3-2 defeat of the Blue Jays. Wilfong bunted for a hit to start the inning, took second on a bunt single by Hosken Powell and went to third when Danny Goodwin hit into a double play. John Castino squeezed home the first Minnesota run in the third and Glenn Adams singled home Ken Landreaux, who had doubled, for the Twins' second run in the sixth.

A's 4, Red Sox 1 at Oakland (day game):
Going the route for the ninth time this season, Matt Keough tossed a six-hitter and halted the A's five-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Red Sox. Mike Davis figured in three of the A's runs: he singled and eventually scored on a balk by Mike Torrez in the second, and he homered with a man aboard in the sixth.

Yankees 1, Mariners 0 at Seattle (night game):
Tom Underwood and Rich Gossage made a homer by Reggie Jackson in the second inning stand up as the Yankees blanked the Mariners, 1-0. Shut out for the second straight night, the Mariners failed to get a runner past first base.

Royals 7, Rangers 2 at Texas (night game):
Five RBIs by Clint Hurdle and solid pitching by Rich Gale helped the Royals spank the Rangers, 7-2, for their fifth straight victory. Hurdle blasted a homer with two men on in the second and knocked in two more with a two-out triple in the fifth.

Braves 6, Dodgers 1 at Atlanta (night game):
Larvell Blanks belted a three-run double and Gary Matthews added a two-run homer to help Doyle Alexander earn his first complete game in two years and send the Braves to a 6-1 triumph over the Dodgers. Alexander scattered 10 hits in making his first route-going performance since September 15, 1978, when he was with Texas. Dave Goltz failed for the fourth time to get his 100th career victory as the Braves exploded for four runs in the first inning on Blanks' bases-clearing double and ab RBI single by Bruce Benedict.

Padres 6, Reds 1 at Cincinnati (night game):
Gary Lucas and Rollie Fingers combined on a six-hitter, leading the Padres to a 6-1 victory over the Reds. Dan Driessen's fifth-inning homer was the only hit allowed by Lucas in six innings of work before being lifted for a pinch-hitter as the Padres rallied for three runs in the seventh. Fingers hurled the final three frames for his seventh save. Paul Dade led off the Padres' seventh with a single and stole second. Two outs later, Gene Richards and Ozzie Smith hit back-to-back doubles to give the Padres a 2-1 lead. Jerry Mumphrey completed the outburst with an RBI single.

Astros 3, Giants 0 at Houston (night game):
The Astros gained their fourth straight victory as Joe Niekro hurled a five-hitter and Joe Morgan slammed a pair of run-scoring doubles for a 3-0 victory over the Giants. Morgan's third-inning double followed a single and stolen base by Terry Puhl. In the fifth, Rafael Landestoy tripled before Morgan's two-base hit. Denny Walling then plated Morgan with a single to center. Veteran knuckleballer Niekro struck out five and walked none for his fifth complete game of the season and the Astros second consecutive shutout. It was the eighth win in the last 11 games for the Astros.

Expos 2, Cardinals 1 at Montreal (day game):
Entering the game with a .179 batting mark, Bill Almon collected a pair of singles including a hit with one out in the 13th inning which scored pinch-runner Tony Bernazard to give the Expos a 2-1 victory over the Cardinals. Ken Macha opened the 13th with a single before giving way to Bernazard on the basepaths. Jerry White, who sent the game into overtime with an RBI double in the eighth, collected his third straight hit. After Tommy Hutton's sacrifice, Almon lifted a soft liner over the second baseman's head.

Mets 6, Pirates 5 at New York (day game):
Ron Hodges grounded a bases-loaded, one-out single through a drawn-in infield to score John Stearns, capping a two-run rally and giving the Mets a 6-5 decision over the Pirates. With one out in the 11th, Alex Trevino singled and Stearns walked against losing pitcher Grant Jackson. Bert Blyleven, who started and lost Friday's game, came on and was greeted by Joel Youngblood's ground-rule double, tying the game, 5-5. Elliott Maddox received an intentional walk before Hodges singled through the right side. The Pirates had taken a 5-4 lead in the top of the inning on Phil Garner's RBI single.

Phillies 5, Cubs 2 at Philadelphia (night game):
Manny Trillo drove in the game's first run and later scored another, and pitcher Randy Lerch contributed an RBI single to lead the Phillies to a 5-2 victory over the Cubs. After Trillo's second-inning RBI had given the Phils a 1-0 lead, Pete Rose doubled and scored on a single by Bake McBride and Bob Boone followed with a run-scoring single for two more runs in the fifth. Larry Biittner's RBI double cut the lead to 3-1 in the sixth, but the Phils bounced back for two more runs in their half on consecutive singles by Larry Bowa, Trillo and Lerch and a later RBI single by Mike Schmidt.
