Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 4, A's 3 at Baltimore (night game):
An error produced the winning run as the Orioles won their fifth straight game, 4-3, over the A's. The Birds trailed, 3-2, in the bottom of the seventh, but tied it when pinch-hitter John Lowenstein cracked a two-out single to plate Mark Corey. When A's first baseman Jeff Newman tried to get Lowenstein, who broke for second on the throw to the plate, the ball struck Lowenstein in the back of the neck and Al Bumbry raced home with the decisive run.

Red Sox 2, Mariners 0 at Boston (night game):
Bob Stanley scattered eight hits in pitching the Red Sox to a 2-0 whitewashing of the Mariners. The Sox scored both runs in the sixth on a single by Fred Lynn, RBI double by Tony Perez and run-scoring single by Jim Rice.

Indians 5, Royals 4 at Kansas City (night game):
Toby Harrah had two RBIs and Jorge Orta scored two runs to pace the Indians to a 5-4 triumph over the Royals. Harrah knocked in Orta twice, with a sacrifice fly in a two-run first inning and with the eventual game-winner in the sixth on a single. Len Barker pitched the first six innings to gain the victory and Mike Stanton hurled the final three frames to pick up his third save. Miguel Dilone collected three hits, scored one run and stole two bases to help the Indians win their 10th in the last 14 games.

Twins 5, Tigers 1 at Minnesota (day game):
A grand slam by Jose Morales powered the Twins to a 5-1 decision over the Tigers. The big blast came in the third inning after Butch Wynegar and Ken Landreaux singled and Ron Jackson reached first on an error by third baseman Tom Brookens. The Twins added another run in the fourth on a single by John Castino.

Yankees 7, Angels 5 at New York (night game):
The Yankees recorded their seventh straight victory, beating the Angels, 7-5. After Reggie Jackson had tied the contest at 4-4 in the third inning with a solo homer, a two-run pinch double by Lou Piniella in the sixth put the Bronx Bombers ahead to stay. Winning pitcher Rudy May struck out eight in 4 1/3 innings of relief.

Brewers 10, Rangers 4 at Texas (night game):
The Brewers' 15-hit attack routed the Rangers, 10-4. Milwaukee scored three times in the third inning on an error, RBI single by Don Money and sacrifice fly by Cecil Cooper. Ed Romero doubled home one marker and Charlie Moore singled in two more in the fourth frame. Ben Oglivie hit a two-run homer in the fifth. Romero, who'd had only four hits since being called up from Vancouver June 1, went 3-for-3.

Braves 4, Pirates 3 at Atlanta (night game):
Completing the three-game series sweep, the Braves downed the Pirates, 4-3. The Braves snapped a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning when Gary Matthews drew a leadoff walk. Two outs later, Glenn Hubbard doubled him home. Atlanta erased a 3-0 deficit in the fourth on a two-run homer by Jeff Burroughs and RBI double by Luis Gomez.

Cubs 5, Reds 2 at Chicago (day game):
With Bruce Sutter recording his major league-leading 15th save, the Cubs prevailed over the Reds, 5-2. The game was tied, 2-2, when Jesus Figueroa led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a walk, went to second on a sacrifice by Ivan DeJesus and, after Bill Buckner was intentionally walked, scored on a single by Mike Vail. A triple by Mike Tyson and double by Figueroa gave the Cubs two runs in the eighth.

Astros 2, Cardinals 0 at Houston (night game):
Nolan Ryan and Joe Sambito combined on a one-hitter to lead Houston to a club-record 12th straight home victory as the Astros beat the Cardinals, 2-0. The only Redbird hit was a bloop double by Garry Templeton in the third inning. The Astros scored in the first on a triple by Rafael Landestoy and sacrifice fly by Jose Cruz. Cruz also had an RBI single in the sixth.

Dodgers 5, Expos 3 at Los Angeles (night game):
A two-run homer by Joe Ferguson in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the Dodgers to a 5-3 triumph over the Expos. With the score 3-3 and one out in the 10th, Ron Cey hit an infield single and Ferguson followed with his homer. The Expos had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth on a single by Rodney Scott, but the Dodgers tied it in the ninth on a pinch-hit sacrifice fly by Dusty Baker.

Padres 4, Phillies 3 at San Diego (day game):
Rookie Tim Flannery blooped a single to score Willie Montanez from first base in the sixth inning, enabling the Padres to shade the Phillies, 4-3, snapping the Phillies' six-game winning streak. With two out in the sixth and the game tied, 3-3, Montanez singled up the middle. Flannery followed with a looping fly that eluded shortstop Larry Bowa and fell into left field. Montanez, running on the pitch, raced home with the decisive run. The Phils had tied the game in the fifth on a three-run homer by Bake McBride.

Giants 4, Mets 3 at San Francisco (day game):
Jack Clark blasted homer and triple to pace the Giants to a 10-inning 4-3 victory over the Mets. The three-bagger produced the winning run and came after Joe Strain beat out an infield hit with one out in the 10th. The round-tripper was a solo shot in the fourth frame. The Mets had tied the game in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Joel Youngblood.
