Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 1, Blue Jays 0 at Baltimore (night game):
Four-hit pitching by Scott McGregor carried the Orioles to a 1-0 victory over the Blue Jays in a duel with Dave Stieb. The lone run came when Al Bumbry led off the game with a double and Rich Dauer followed with another two-bagger.

White Sox 2, Angels 1 at California (night game):
Britt Burns and Ed Farmer combined on a five-hitter as the White Sox snapped a six-game losing streak by shading the Angels, 2-1. The White Sox scored in the second inning on a bases-loaded walk to Greg Pryor and again in the fourth when Bruce Kimm doubled, reached third on a sacrifice and registered on a single by Thad Bosley. Ed Farmer picked up his 15th save, tops in the A.L.

Tigers 9, Indians 4 at Cleveland (night game):
Driving in six runs, Richie Hebner led the Tigers to a 9-4 victory over the Indians, extending their winning streak to six games. Hebner drove in a run in the first inning when he bounced into a force play, knocked in three more with a bases-loaded double in the seventh and plated another pair with a bases-loaded single in the eighth. The Tigers scored five runs in the seventh after two were out as John Wockenfuss kayoed Tribe starter Len Barker with a two-run triple. Rookie reliever Roger Weaver received credit for his first major league victory.

[DH] Twins 2, Royals 1 (night game) / Royals 4, Twins 2 at Minnesota (night game):
Dividing a doubleheader, the Twins won the first game, 2-1, and the Royals took the second contest, 4-2. In the opener, the Twins put over the winning run in the ninth inning when Hosken Powell stroked a leadoff single, reached second on a sacrifice by John Castino and, one out later, scored on a single by Roy Smalley. Amos Otis led the Royals' attack in the nightcap with a double, two singles and two runs batted in.

Yankees 10, Red Sox 5 at New York (night game):
Homers by Rick Cerone, Reggie Jackson, Bob Watson and Graig Nettles powered the Yankees to a 10-5 thumping of the Red Sox. The Yankees were behind, 5-3, with two out in the third inning when Cerone delivered a three-run round-tripper. Watson blasted a solo clout in the seventh and Jackson belted a three-run shot in the eighth. Nettles' swat came in the first frame with the bases empty.

Brewers 5, A's 3 at Oakland (night game):
Homers by Sixto Lezcano and Mark Brouhard highlighted an 11-hit attack as the Brewers prevailed over the A's, 5-3. Lezcano's blast tied the score at 1-1 in the second inning. After the Brewers went ahead in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Ben Oglivie, Brouhard drilled a solo homer in the seventh and run-scoring double in the eighth.

Rangers 5, Mariners 4 at Texas (night game):
Al Oliver got his 10th game-winning RBI of the season as the Rangers defeated the Mariners, 5-4. The score was tied, 4-4, in the ninth inning when, with two out, Mickey Rivers doubled to left-center. After Bump Wills was intentionally walked, Oliver singled down the left field line to plate Rivers.

Mets 6, Cubs 5 at Chicago (day game):
A homer by Claudell Washington with two men on base climaxed a four-run fifth inning that carried the Mets to a 6-5 triumph over the Cubs. The Mets trailed, 5-2, when Elliott Maddox led off the frame with a single, went to second on a single by Doug Flynn, advanced to third on an infield out and scored on a groundout by Lee Mazzilli. Frank Taveras then was hit by a pitch and Washington followed with his round-tripper.

Reds 8, Braves 2 at Cincinnati (night game):
Tossing a three-hitter, Charlie Leibrandt pitched the Reds to an 8-2 victory over the Braves. The southpaw retired last the 17 batters. The Reds broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning with a solo homer by Dave Concepcion, added another run in the seventh on a double by Johnny Bench and put the game away with a four-run outburst in the eighth with a run-scoring triple by Ken Griffey, error by Braves left fielder Jeff Burroughs and run-scoring singles by Sam Mejias and Concepcion.

Astros 5, Dodgers 4 at Houston (night game):
A throwing error by Dodger pitcher Joe Beckwith enabled the winning run to score as the Astros triumphed, 5-4, in 12 innings. Cesar Cedeno opened the stanza with a double. After Art Howe was intentionally walked, Craig Reynolds bunted down the third base line. Beckwith fielded the ball but threw wildly attempting to get a forceout at third base and Cedeno raced home with the winning run. The Astros had tied the game in the ninth on a solo homer by Joe Morgan.

Expos 7, Phillies 6 at Philadelphia (night game):
The Expos pushed a run across in the 10th inning to edge the Phillies, 7-6. With the score tied, 6-6, Ron LeFlore led off Montreal's 10th with a single, advanced to second on a groundout and, after Gary Carter was walked intentionally, came home on a single by Warren Cromartie. The Phillies had rallied from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game at 5-5 in the seventh. After a run-scoring single by Carter in the eighth put the Expos ahead, 6-5, Garry Maddox again knotted the count with a two-out run-scoring single in the ninth.

Padres 5, Giants 3 at San Diego (night game):
A two-run homer by Aurelio Rodriguez in the eighth inning lifted the Padres to a 5-3 decision over the Giants. The game was tied, 3-3, in the bottom of the eighth, with two out and nobody on base when Gene Tenace was hit by a pitch. Rodriguez then followed with a blast into the left-field bleachers. John D'Acquisto pitched five hitless innings of relief to gain the victory.

Cardinals 3, Pirates 2 at St. Louis (night game):
Breaking out of an 0-for-27 slump, Bobby Bonds cracked a double and homer to pace the Cardinals to a 3-2 victory over the Pirates as Bob Sykes scattered nine hits to record his first complete game in the N.L. Bill Robinson hit a two-run homer for the Pirates in the first inning. Bonds led off the Cards' half with a double and scored on a single by Garry Templeton, who came home later in the inning on a single by Ted Simmons. Bonds drilled his homer leading off the third for the winning run.
