Tigers 7, Indians 6 at Detroit (night game):
Tom Brookens, Alan Trammell and Lance Parrish delivered the key blows as the Tigers outlasted the Indians, 7-6. Brookens drove in a run with a single in the fourth inning and added two with a double in the fifth. Trammell drilled a homer with two out and nobody on in the sixth and, after Al Cowens got a bloop single, Parrish blasted a two-run round-tripper. Aurelio Lopez, who got the last four outs, earned his 10th save of the season.

Royals 4, Twins 3 at Kansas City (night game):
The Royals ended a three-game losing skein by scoring a run in the 10th inning to shade the Twins, 4-3. The score was 3-3 when Dave Chalk and Willie Wilson began the 10th with singles. After the runners were sacrificed along by U.L. Washington, Mike Bacsik relieved Jerry Koosman on the mound for the Twins and surrendered the game-winning single to John Wathan.
