Today's scores and summaries:
Indians 7, Mariners 3 at Cleveland (night game):
The Indians recorded their sixth straight victory, a 7-3 decision over the Mariners. The Tribe scored in the first on a triple by Miguel Dilone and single by Jorge Orta. The Indians added five runs in the sixth on a run-scoring double by Toby Harrah, an error and a three-run homer by Rick Manning. Len Barker, who had a no-hitter for 6 2/3 innings, was kayoed in a three-run eighth and Victor Cruz came on to retire the final four batters and earn the save.
Angels 3, Tigers 2 at Detroit (night game):
The Angels snapped their four-game losing streak with a 3-2 triumph over the Tigers. California trailed, 2-1, when Bobby Grich singled with one out in the seventh and raced to third on a single by Larry Harlow. After Bert Campaneris flied out, Detroit third baseman Tom Brookens bobbled pinch-hitter Joe Rudi's grounder, then threw wide to first as Grich registered the tying run. Rick Miller followed with a single up the middle to plate Harlow with the decisive tally.
Yankees 7, Twins 6 at Minnesota (night game):
Two homers by Rick Cerone, including the winning blow in the 10th inning, lifted the Yankees to a 7-6 decision over the Twins. Cerone's three-run blast capped a four-run eighth inning and gave the Yanks a 6-5 lead. The Twins tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on a single by Rob Wilfong, but Cerone then led off the New York 10th with another circuit clout.
A's 5, Blue Jays 3 at Toronto (night game):
Jim Essian went 3-for-3, including a homer and double, and knocked in three runs to pace the A's to a 5-3 decision over the Blue Jays in a game shortened by rain. With the score tied 3-3 in the seventh inning, Dave McKay doubled and moved to third on a sacrifice by Jeff Cox. Rickey Henderson then reached first on an error by Roy Howell as McKay held third. McKay was thrown out at the plate on Dwayne Murphy's grounder. Henderson, who moved to second on the play, scored on a double by Essian. The A's added a tally in the eighth on a single by Cox before rain halted play with two out and the A's still batting. The umpires waited 54 minutes before calling the game.
Pirates 6, Dodgers 4 at Los Angeles (night game):
Two homers by Ed Ott paced the Pirates to a 6-4 triumph over the Dodgers. The Bucs catcher drilled a solo shot in the second inning after a triple by Mike Easler and Bill Madlock's infield out. L.A. tied the score at 3-3 in the third on run-scoring singles by Jay Johnstone and Dusty Baker, but the Pirates went ahead, 4-3, in the fifth on a groundout by Omar Moreno.
[DH] Reds 3, Expos 2 (night game) / Expos 5, Reds 4 at Montreal (night game):

Elias Sosa relieved Charlie Lea on the hill for Montreal and fumbled Ron Oester's bunt to load the bases. After Dave Concepcion struck out and Johnny Bench hit into a forceout at the plate, Dave Collins delivered a double that plated two runs. Cincinnati errors contributed to the Expos' second-game victory. Montreal scored twice in the first inning on an RBI single by Ellis Valentine and a throwing error by Oester, and twice more in the second on an error by Hector Cruz and run-scoring single by Rodney Scott. The final Montreal tally came in the sixth on a triple by Warren Cromartie and RBI sacrifice bunt by Chris Speier.

A triple by Cesar Cedeno in the 10th inning drove home the winning run as the Astros shaded the Phillies, 3-2. The score was tied, 2-2, in the 10th when Jose Cruz drew a two-out walk and Cedeno followed with a shot down the right field line.
