Today's scores and summaries:

Tigers 15, Angels 6 at Detroit (night game):
Blasting off with a seven-run first inning, the Tigers broke a four-game losing streak with a 15-6 victory over the Angels. Richie Hebner drilled the two-run single for the first tallies of the big frame and Lou Whitaker climaxed the outburst with a three-run double. Steve Kemp, who drove in three runs, hit an RBI triple in the fourth and homer in the fifth.

Royals 13, Red Sox 3 at Kansas City (night game):
Willie Wilson reached base five times on four singles and a walk, scored four runs, drove in one and stole his 46th base of the season to spark the Royals to a 13-3 thrashing of the Red Sox. The Royals tagged four Boston pitchers for 17 hits with every starter collecting at least one. George Brett was 2-for-3, extending his hitting streak to 13 games and raising his average to .390. Hal McRae got a gift three-run homer in the sixth when outfielders Fred Lynn and Dwight Evans collided while attempting to field his high fly.

Yankees 7, Brewers 6 at Milwaukee (night game):
A three-run homer by Reggie Jackson with two out in the ninth inning sent the game into extra innings and the Yankees then scored a run in the 11th to edge the Brewers, 7-6. A mental lapse by Brewers catcher Charlie Moore enabled the Yankees to register the winning run. After the Yanks loaded the bases, Eric Soderholm hit a grounder to Jim Gantner at third, who stepped on the bag for a forceout and then threw home. Moore, however, forgot the force was off and tagged the plate instead of the runner.

Rangers 7, Orioles 4 at Texas (night game):
The Rangers ended Steve Stone's winning streak at 14 games by beating the Orioles, 7-4. The veteran righthander, in quest of a record of 16 straight wins, was kayoed in the fourth inning. The Rangers scored four runs in the first inning on a two-run single by Buddy Bell, run-scoring single by Rusty Staub and an error by Baltimore shortstop Kiko Garcia. A single by Jim Sundberg made it 5-0 in the third and the Rangers extended the lead to 7-0 with a run-scoring single by Al Oliver and a double play in the fourth.

Giants 6, Cardinals 4 at San Francisco (night game):
Larry Herndon drove in four runs and Rennie Stennett smacked a two-run, tie-breaking double to lead the Giants to a 6-4 decision over the Cardinals. The game was tied, 3-3, when Jack Clark led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single. After Herndon flied out, Clark took third on a double by Darrell Evans. Stennett then delivered a two-bagger down the left field line. Herndon drilled a three-run homer in the first frame and RBI single in the eighth.
