[DH] Tigers 11, White Sox 2 (night game) / Tigers 6, White Sox 1 at Detroit (night game):

Champ Summers started the Tigers' scoring in the first game with a solo homer in the fourth inning. A three-run round-tripper by Alan Trammell highlighted a seven-run fifth. A four-run outburst in the fifth inning carried the Tigers to their second game win. A single by John Wockenfuss accounted for two tallies, the third run registered on a throwing error by Jim Morrison and the final marker resulted from a forceout by Tim Corcoran.

Twins 5, Indians 3 at Minnesota (night game):
A two-run double by Rick Sofield in the sixth inning was the decisive blow as the Twins posted a 5-3 decision over the Indians. Mike Cubbage and John Castino stroked back-to-back singles before Sofield cracked his two-bagger to snap a 3-3 tie.
