Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 12, Red Sox 9 at Baltimore (night game):
Terry Crowley hit two homers and drove in five runs and Doug DeCinces added a three-run shot to lead the Orioles to a 12-9 victory over the Red Sox. The Red Sox jumped off to an 7-1 early lead, but the Orioles tied the game with a six-run third inning that was highlighted by a three-run round-tripper by Crowley. After a two-run swat by Tony Perez in the fourth gave the Red Sox a 9-7 lead, Crowley blasted a two-run shot in the Orioles' half to retie the game at 9-9. DeCinces snapped the tie in the seventh with his clout that lifted the Orioles to triumph.

Tigers 9, Blue Jays 8 at Detroit (night game):
Scoring the winning run in the 10th inning, the Tigers outlasted the Blue Jays, 9-8. John Wockenfuss opened the Tigers' 10th with a single and reached second on a sacrifice by Al Cowens. Pinch-hitter Richie Hebner walked and was replaced by pinch-runner Mark Wagner. After Lou Whitaker walked to load the bases, Lynn Jones ran for Wockenfuss and registered the decisive tally on a single by Ricky Peters.

Brewers 6, Angels 0 at Milwaukee (night game):
Scattering seven hits, Lary Sorensen pitched the Brewers to a 6-0 victory over the Angels. The Brewers scored four runs in the sixth inning on an error, single by Cecil Cooper, doubles by Gorman Thomas and Ben Oglivie and single by Sal Bando. Solo homers by Cooper and Oglivie in the seventh capped the Brewers' scoring.

Twins 9, Rangers 5 at Minnesota (night game):
The Twins recorded their sixth straight victory, defeating the Rangers, 9-5. The Twins broke a 3-3 tie in the fourth inning on a two-run single by Bombo Rivera and put the game away with a four-run fifth, highlighted by a three-run double by Butch Wynegar.

Yankees 7, Indians 3 at New York (night game):
Three hits and three RBIs by Bob Watson moved the Yankees closer to clinching the East Division title with a 7-3 victory over the Indians. The Yanks scored three times in the third inning on an RBI single by Bucky Dent and two-run double by Watson. They added three more runs in the fifth with five straight hits, including run-scoring singles by Watson and Lou Piniella and a double by Reggie Jackson, who drove in his 100th run of the season.

A's 7, White Sox 1 at Oakland (night game):
Steve McCatty pitched a two-hitter and Tony Armas hit his 35th homer as the A's breezed past the White Sox, 7-1. The A's tallied three markers in the second inning, one on a double by Jeff Newman and two on a homer by Jim Essian. In the third, Armas followed a walk to Mike Heath with his round-tripper.

Mariners 4, Royals 2 at Seattle (night game):
Going the route in a six-hit performance, Rick Honeycutt hurled the Mariners to 4-2 triumph over the Royals. The Mariners trailed, 2-1, going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but took a 3-2 lead on singles by Rodney Craig and Reggie Walton, a sacrifice fly by Willie Horton and squeeze bunt by Larry Milbourne. They added an insurance tally in the seventh on a single by Dave Edler and double by Kim Allen.

Braves 4, Astros 2 at Atlanta (night game):
A pinch-double by Biff Pocoroba drove in two runs in the sixth inning and gave the Braves a 4-2 victory over the Astros. The game was tied, 2-2, in the sixth when Doyle Alexander and Terry Harper drew consecutive walks. Pocoroba then slashed a ball up the alley in left-center. Rick Camp made his 74th appearance of the season to pick up the save after Alexander pitched the first 7 1/3 innings.

Expos 8, Cubs 4 at Chicago (day game):
Pounding out 15 hits, the Expos defeated the Cubs, 8-4, to maintain their fingerhold on first place in the East Division. The Expos scored four runs in the second inning on doubles by Andre Dawson and Gary Carter, a single by Warren Cromartie, triple by Larry Parrish and an error by Cubs second baseman Mike Tyson. Singles by Parrish and Chris Speier and a sacrifice fly by Charlie Lea made it 5-0 in the fifth. Carter batted in two runs with a double in the seventh. Stan Bahnsen sparkled in relief, pitching 3 2/3 innings of scoreless ball.

Dodgers 5, Giants 4 at Los Angeles (night game):
A pinch-single by Manny Mota in the 12th inning drove home the winning run and enabled the Dodgers to move into a first-place tie in the West Division with a 5-4 triumph over the Giants. Dusty Baker began the 12th with a single and reached third when Giants catcher Mike Sadek threw a bunt by Steve Garvey into right field. After Mickey Hatcher was walked intentionally, Bobby Mitchell flied out and Baker was caught attempting to steal home. But Mota, the all-time major league leader in pinch-hits, delivered the decisive blow that moved the Dodgers to the top of the division standings in a tie with Astros.

Phillies 1, Mets 0 at Philadelphia (night game):
Pushing across a run in the 10th inning, the Phillies edged the Mets, 1-0, behind the pitching of Larry Christenson and Tug McGraw. Pete Rose then bounced a single up the middle to plate pinch-runner Jay Loviglio with the winning run.

Pirates 6, Cardinals 3 at Pittsburgh (night game):

Bill Madlock followed with another single and took second when the Cards tried unsuccessfully to get Robinson at third. Lee Lacy was given an intentional walk to load the bases and Dale Berra followed with a sacrifice fly. A single by Steve Nicosia reloaded the bases and Rick Rhoden drove in two more runs with a single. A two-run triple by Omar Moreno capped the outburst.

Reds 7, Padres 6 at San Diego (night game):
The Reds stayed in the chase for the West Division title by outlasting the Padres, 7-6, in 10 innings. After Gene Tenace had tied the game for the Padres at 5-5 with a three-run homer in the sixth, a double by Dan Driessen put the Reds ahead, 6-5, in the seventh. The Padres tied the game in the eighth on an error by Reds catcher Vic Correll. In the 10th, Ken Griffey drilled a one-out triple and scored the Reds' winning run on a sacrifice fly by Dave Concepcion.
