Today's scores and summaries:
Angels 4, Tigers 3 at California (day game):
A two-run homer by Brian Downing climaxed a four-run eighth inning that rallied the Angels to a 4-3 triumph over the Tigers. The Angels were behind, 3-0, when Butch Hobson led off the bottom of the eighth with a single. One out later, Rick Burleson singled, Hobson stopping at second. Both runners advanced on pinch-hitter Fred Lynn's groundout and scored on a single by Don Baylor. After Aurelio Lopez replaced Dave Rozema on the mound for the Tigers, Downing unloaded his fourth round-tripper of the year.
Indians 5, Twins 1 at Minnesota (day game):
A four-run outburst in the fifth inning carried the Indians to a 5-1 victory over the Twins as Wayne Garland went the route on a seven-hitter. Bo Diaz began the Tribe's fifth with a double and scored on a single by Dave Rosello. Singles by Tom Veryzer and Alan Bannister loaded the bases before Larry Littleton delivered a sacrifice fly. Andre Thornton capped the uprising with a two-run single.
Brewers 13, A's 5 at Oakland (day game):
Mark Brouhard drove in five runs and Roy Howell and Charlie Moore had four hits apiece as the Brewers thumped the A's, 13-5, handing Mike Norris his first loss after six victories. Brouhard slammed his first circuit clout of the season with two mates aboard in the second inning and stroked a two-run single in Milwaukee's five-run fifth. Howell collected three singles and drilled a two-run double in the third inning. Moore had three singles and a triple. The A's went over the 500,000 mark in attendance -- 341,000 ahead of last year's pace.
Yankees 5, Mariners 2 at Seattle (night game):
Aurelio Rodriguez hit homers in his first two plate appearances of the season as the Yankees downed the Mariners, 5-2. Rodriguez belted his first round-tripper in the third inning with Barry Foote on base via a walk. The Yanks upped their margin to 4-0 later in the frame when Willie Randolph walked and Dave Winfield blasted a two-run homer. Rodriguez led off the fifth with his second round-tripper. Rich Gossage picked up his eighth save of the season.
Rangers 7, Orioles 3 at Texas (night game):
Helped by Baltimore misplays, the Rangers scored five runs in the second inning en route to a 7-3 triumph over the Orioles. The Rangers loaded the bases in the second on a double by Bill Stein, infield hit by Leon Roberts and single by Jim Sundberg. Stein scored the first run of the frame on a passed ball. After an out, Mario Mendoza struck out but reached first on a wild pitch that allowed Roberts to score. Mendoza stole second and continued to third and Sundberg scored when catcher Dan Graham's throw bounced into center field. A triple by Bump Wills plated Mendoza and a single by Mickey Rivers drove in Wills.
Red Sox 9, Blue Jays 5 at Toronto (day game):
A third-strike wild pitch opened the gates for a four-run 10th inning that lifted the Red Sox to a 9-5 victory over the Blue Jays. The score was 5-5 when Dwight Evans began the top of the 10th by striking out, but he reached first safely when the ball got past the catcher. Dave Stapleton sacrificed Evans to second, from where he scored on a single by Carney Lansford. After Lansford was thrown out attempting to steal, Jim Rice and Tony Perez singled and Joe Rudi put the game away with a three-run homer. Toronto had tied the game in the seventh on a run-scoring single by Alfredo Griffin. Tom Burgmeier pitched 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win.
Cubs 5, Braves 5 at Atlanta (day game):

The Braves led, 5-4, going into the ninth inning but Hector Cruz tied the contest with a two-out pinch-homer.
Astros 7, Reds 5 at Cincinnati (day game):

Cruz singled home Houston's first run in the first inning but the Reds took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on a two-run homer by George Foster. The Astros regained the lead with three tallies in the fifth on a solo homer by Terry Puhl, RBI groundout by Cruz and a run-scoring single by Danny Heep. A sacrifice fly by Craig Reynolds and RBI single by Art Howe produced two more runs in the seventh and Cruz closed out Houston's scoring with an RBI single in the eighth. The Reds rallied for three in the ninth but Frank LaCorte came on to get the final out and preserve the victory.
[DH] Giants 5, Expos 1 (day game) / Expos 4, Giants 0 at Montreal (day game):
Charlie Lea, unable to get through the fifth inning in his two previous starts, pitched the first no-hitter in the majors this season to give the Expos a 4-0 victory over the Giants in the second game of a doubleheader after the Giants won the first game, 5-1. There were no hard-hit balls or outstanding defensive plays as Lea became the first Expos pitcher to hurl a no-hitter since Bill Stoneman on October 2, 1972. The Expos got all their runs in the seventh inning on a leadoff homer by Tim Wallach, two-run double by Rodney Scott and run-scoring double by Andre Dawson. In the opener, the Giants backed Tom Griffin's four-hit pitching with a 12-hit attack. The Giants scored two runs in the first inning on a solo homer by Enos Cabell and run-scoring single by Larry Herndon. Cabell hit an RBI groundout in the secnod stanza, Rennie Stennett stroked a run-scoring single in the third and Darrell Evans belted a solo round-tripper in the sixth.

Scoring four runs in the fourth inning without the aid of a hit, the Dodgers downed the Mets, 5-3. The Mets' Hubie Brooks tied a league record held by nine other third basemen since 1900 when he made three consecutive errors in an inning. Steve Yeager reached second when Brooks threw his two-out grounder into the dugout, and scored when Brooks failed to handle Derrel Thomas' slow bouncer. Brooks then booted a grounder by Bob Welch. Randy Jones loaded the bases by walking Davey Lopes and then walked Ken Landreaux and Dusty Baker to force home two runs. Tom Hausman relieved Jones and walked Steve Garvey to force home another tally. The Dodgers' other run came in the second inning when Jones threw 10 consecutive balls to force home Ron Cey, who had singled.

Pirates 8, Cardinals 2 at St. Louis (day game):
Lashing a homer, double and two singles and driving in three runs, Dave Parker paced the Pirates' 8-2 victory over the Cardinals. Parker belted a solo homer in the fourth inning, singled home a run in the seventh and delivered a run-scoring single in a three-run ninth.
