Today's scores and summaries:

Angels 2, Orioles 0 at Baltimore (night game):
In his second start since being recalled from the minors, Doug Rau pitched five scoreless innings and recorded his first victory since May 11, 1979 as the Angels stopped the Orioles' winning streak at eight, 2-0. A homer by Dan Ford in the fourth inning and RBI single by Ed Ott in the seventh provided the Angels' runs. Don Aase picked up his fourth save, allowing only two hits in the last four innings.

Red Sox 3, A's 0 at Boston (night game):
The Red Sox dealt the A's their eighth straight defeat, 3-0, as Jim Rice belted a home run with none out in the ninth inning. Singles by Dwight Evans and Carl Yastrzemski set the stage for Rice's blow. Dennis Eckersley gave the A's just two hits and struck out 12.

Mariners 6, Indians 3 at Cleveland (night game):
Jerry Narron, who had driven in only four runs in Seattle's first 36 games, knocked in three as the Mariners downed the Indians, 6-3. After spotting the Tribe a 2-0 lead, the Mariners tied the score in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Dave Henderson and infield out by Narron, and went in front in the third on singles by Dave Edler, Bruce Bochte and Jeff Burroughs. Narron stroked RBI singles in the fourth and fifth frames.

Brewers 8, Twins 2 at Milwaukee (day game):
Gorman Thomas knocked in five runs with a pair of homers as the Brewers whacked the Twins, 8-2. Thomas' first homer came in a five-run third inning, following a walk to Jim Gantner and single by Cecil Cooper. Ben Oglivie followed with a single and walks to Ted Simmons and Roy Howell loaded the bases. Mark Brouhard drove in a run with a single and Ed Romero capped the inning with a sacrifice fly. Thomas connected again in the seventh with Cooper aboard via a single.

Cubs 5, Reds 1 at Chicago (day game):
The Cubs, with Leon Durham going 4-for-4 including a three-run homer in the sixth inning, defeated the Reds, 5-1, to end their eight-game losing streak and snap an eight-game winning streak for the Reds. Randy Martz scattered seven hits in hurling the Cubs' first complete game of the season.

Cardinals 3, Astros 1 at St. Louis (day game):
John Martin, in his first start of the season, pitched a four-hitter to lead the Cardinals past the Astros, 3-1. The Cardinals scored twice in the first inning to make a loser out of Nolan Ryan.
