Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 6, Yankees 4 at Baltimore (night game):
Two homers by Terry Crowley, the second being a three-run shot, powered the Orioles to a 6-4 triumph over the Yankees. Crowley ignited a three-run fourth inning with his first round-tripper of ther season, and the Birds' other two tallies came on a double by Doug DeCinces and triple by Mark Belanger. Crowley's second blast came in the fifth and wiped out a 4-3 New York lead. Sammy Stewart, coming on in the fifth, hurled one-hit ball the rest of the way to earn the victory.

Indians 5, Red Sox 2 at Boston (night game):
A five-run outburst in the third inning carried the Indians to a 5-2 victory over the Red Sox. Duane Kuiper opened the Tribe third with a single and moved to second on a one-out single by Rick Manning. A single by Jorge Orta scored Kuiper and Mike Hargrove followed with a single that plated Manning. A double by Andre Thornton then drove in Orta and Ron Hassey followed with a single that chased Hargrove home. The final run came on a throwing error by Sox second baseman Jerry Remy.

Blue Jays 8, Angels 4 at California (night game):
Barry Bonnell ripped a homer, two doubles and a single, driving in four runs and pacing the Blue Jays to an 8-4 triumph over the Angels that ended Toronto's six-game losing streak. After doubling in the Jays' first run in the first inning, Bonnell drilled his homer in the third with Ernie Whitt and Alfredo Griffin aboard via singles. Otto Velez belted a two-run round-tripper in the fifth and Ken Macha stroked a two-run single in the ninth.

Brewers 7, Tigers 3 at Milwaukee (night game):
Jim Gantner singled and doubled, scored a run and drove in two to highlight a seven-run first inning that propelled the Brewers to a 7-3 decision over the Tigers. Gantner began the Brewers' first with a single, reached third on a double by Charlie Moore and scored on a single by Cecil Cooper. Gorman Thomas then walked and Ben Oglivie delivered a sacrifice fly. A run-scoring single by Roy Howell chased Detroit starter Milt Wilcox in favor of Aurelio Lopez, who yielded a sacrifice fly by Robin Yount. Don Money then walked and Mark Brouhard singled home Howell. Gantner climaxed the explosion with a two-run double.

White Sox 4, A's 1 at Oakland (night game):
A three-run double by Tony Bernazard in the fourth inning was the big blow as the White Sox downed the A's, 4-1, behind the seven-hit hurling of Britt Burns. The Sox loaded the bases in the fourth on a single by Mike Squires, a hit batsman and a walk, and then Bernazard cleared the sacks with his two-bagger. Oakland reliever Bo McLaughlin was taken to the hospital after being hit in the face by a line drive off the bat of Harold Baines and knocked unconscious in the eighth inning. He was attended by doctors on the field for 15 minutes, regained consciousness and was taken to the hospital.

Royals 5, Mariners 4 at Seattle (night game):
Rallying in the late innings, the Royals prevailed over the Mariners, 5-4. K.C. trailed, 3-2, when George Brett opened the eighth with a single and, one out later, raced to third on a wild pitch. Brett scored on a single by Frank White, who moved to second on John Wathan's single and tallied on a single by Lee May. Amos Otis homered in the ninth for an insurance marker.

Rangers 2, Twins 1 at Texas (night game):
Fergie Jenkins, going eight innings, recorded his 262nd career victory as the Rangers edged the Twins, 2-1. Pat Putnam belted a solo homer in the second and the Rangers pushed across their other marker in the fourth when Leon Roberts walked and came around on singles by Jim Sundberg and Mario Mendoza.

Pirates 6, Cubs 4 at Chicago (day game):
A four-run rally in the ninth inning lifted the Pirates to a 6-4 victory over the Cubs. The Bucs trailed, 4-2, when Mike Easler opened the ninth with a double and scored on a single by Pihl Garner, who raced to third on a single by Tim Foli. Matt Alexander was inserted as a pinch-runner for Foli and Doug Capilla replaced Mike Krukow on the hill for the Cubs. Willie Stargell then tied the game with a pinch-single and was replaced by pinch-runner Eddie Solomon. Capilla was lifted in favor of Dick Tidrow, who struck out pinch-hitter Dale Berra and Lee Lacy. But Omar Moreno singled to right to put the Bucs ahead, 5-4, and Bill Madlock singled for an insurance run. Kent Tekulve, winless since August 8, 1980, broke his 10-game losing streak with two shutout innings.

Astros 1, Padres 0 at Houston (night game):
Joe Pittman, starting at third base in place of injured Art Howe, went 3-for-3 including a triple that drove home the game's only run as the Astros blanked the Padres, 1-0, behind combined five-hit pitching from Nolan Ryan and Joe Sambito. Alan Ashby singled with one out in the seventh stanza and Pittman followed with his three-bagger.

Expos 4, Cardinals 3 at Montreal (night game):
Two-out singles by Tim Raines and Warren Cromartie in the seventh inning enabled the Expos to shade the Cardinals, 4-3. After the Redbirds had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh on a two-run pinch-single by Dane Iorg, Jerry White began the bottom of the frame with a single and reached second on a sacrifice by Chris Speier. Jim Kaat then replaced starter Silvio Martinez and, after getting one out, was tagged for the run-scoring singles by Raines and Cromartie. Elias Sosa relieved in the ninth with two runners on base and induced Sixto Lezcano to bounce into a game-ending double play.

Phillies 7, Mets 5 at New York (night game):
Lonnie Smith singled home the tie-breaking run in a two-run ninth inning that gave the Phillies a 7-5 victory over the Mets. The score was 5-5 when Bob Boone began the ninth with a single and was replaced by pinch-runner Luis Aguayo, who came around on a pinch-single by Greg Gross and single by Smith. Dave Kingman's error -- his third of the game -- on Pete Rose's grounder enabled Gross to score. The Phils had tied the contest in the eighth on a run-scoring single by Gary Matthews.
