Today's scores and summaries:

Angels 10, Orioles 0 at California (night game):
Ken Forsch racked up his second straight shutout on a five-hitter as the Angels routed the Orioles, 10-0. Don Baylor and Bobby Grich gave the Angels a 2-0 lead with solo homers in the second inning. Grich was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home the final marker of a four-run fifth. X-rays revealed that he suffered a fractured bone in his left hand, which will be in a cast from four to six weeks. Don Ford belted a three-run round-tripper in the eighth.

Tigers 5, Twins 1 at Detroit (night game):
A three-run homer by Champ Summers in the first inning triggered the Tigers to a 5-1 victory over the Twins. Summers' blast followed a one-out walk to Alan Trammell and single by Steve Kemp. The Tigers picked up another run in the third on a sacrifice fly by Kemp and closed out the scoring in the eighth on a run-scoring pinch-single by John Wockenfuss.

Brewers 4, Royals 2 at Kansas City (night game):
Pete Vuckovich, yielding five hits in seven innings, notched his seventh consecutive victory and Rollie Fingers registered his 11th save as the Brewers won over the Royals, 4-2. Milwaukee tallied twice in the third inning on a leadoff double by Thad Bosley, single by Mark Brouhard, run-scoring single by Jim Gantner and sacrifice fly by Robin Yount. Yount delivered another sacrifice fly in the fifth and Roy Howell cracked an RBI single in the eighth.

Yankees 2, White Sox 0 at New York (night game):
Doug Bird, who has not lost in the majors since August 16, 1978, received credit for his 12th straight victory and Rich Gossage recorded his 15th save of the season as the Yankees blanked the White Sox, 2-0. The Yanks tallied in the fifth after two were out on a walk to Graig Nettles and singles by Rick Cerone and Aurelio Rodriguez. Willie Randolph drew a leadoff walk in the sixth, moved to third on a single by Jerry Mumphrey and came across when Lou Piniella grounded into a double play.

A's 6, Red Sox 2 at Oakland (day game):
Four hits by Rickey Henderson paced the A's to a 6-2 victory over the Red Sox. The A's tallied three times in the second inning on a double by Jim Spencer, single by Mike Heath, run-scoring single by Keith Drumright, squeeze bunt by Rob Picciolo and RBI single by Henderson. They notched another three-run cluster in the fifth frame on a sacrifice fly by Wayne Gross, RBI single by Tony Armas and RBI double by Heath.

Indians 5, Mariners 3 at Seattle (night game):
A three-run outburst in the top of the ninth inning carried the Indians to a 5-3 victory over the Mariners. The score was 2-2 when Toby Harrah began the ninth with a walk and reached second on a sacrifice by Joe Charboneau. After pinch-hitter Alan Bannister was intentionally walked, Larry Andersen relieved Shane Rawley on the mound. Mike Hargrove then blooped a pinch-single to left to plate the tie-breaking run and Miguel Dilone and Jorge Orta singled home insurance tallies.

Rangers 4, Blue Jays 1 at Texas (night game):
A three-run first inning propelled the Rangers to a 4-1 decision over the Blue Jays. With two out in the opening frame, Al Oliver singled, Buddy Bell walked and Pat Putnam singled to drive in Oliver. On a double steal, Bell scored from third when shortstop Alfredo Griffin's throw to the plate was wild. After a walk to Johnny Grubb, Leon Roberts stroked a single to plate Putnam. Texas' final run came in the seventh on an RBI single by Mickey Rivers.

Phillies 3, Braves 0 at Atlanta (day game):
Larry Christenson and Mike Proly combined on a five-hitter as the Phillies blanked the Braves, 3-0. The Phils took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Christenson before clinching the verdict with two runs in the seventh when Bob Boone drew a one-out walk off reliever John Montefusco and pinch-hitter George Vukovich followed with a homer.

Cubs 11, Dodgers 5 at Chicago (day game):
A three-run pinch-hit homer by Mike Tyson keyed a six-run fourth inning off Fernando Valenzuela as the Cubs thumped the Dodgers, 11-5. The Cubs trailed, 4-1, when Jerry Morales led off the bottom of the fourth frame with a triple. Hector Cruz drew a walk and a single by Carlos Lezcano scored Morales. A single by Jody Davis plated Cruz, and Tyson, batting for Lynn McGlothen, drilled the first pitch over the left field wall. After Ivan DeJesus walked, Bobby Castillo replaced Valenzuela and yielded a run-scoring double to Bill Buckner.

Reds 9, Expos 3 at Cincinnati (night game):
Tom Seaver breezed to his 291st career victory as the Reds pounded the Expos, 9-3. After the Expos touched Seaver for two runs in the first inning, the Reds scored five runs in their half on a walk and six hits, the big blow being a two-run double by Ken Griffey. Ray Knight and Dan Driessen cracked back-to-back homers in the third.

Astros 6, Mets 2 at Houston (night game):
Jose Cruz cracked a two-run homer and Denny Walling added a two-run single to spark the Astros to a 6-2 verdict over the Mets. Houston took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Art Howe singled and Walling walked. Howe scored when Frank Taveras threw wildly trying to complete a double play on a ball hit by Alan Ashby. The Astros made it 3-0 in the third on Cruz' blast following a double by Cesar Cedeno. A bases-loaded walk produced the first run of a three-run fourth, and Walling climaxed the outburst with a single that plated two mates.

Pirates 7, Giants 6 at Pittsburgh (night game):
A pinch-hit homer by John Milner keyed a three-run sixth inning that enabled the Pirates to edge the Giants, 7-6. The Bucs were behind, 5-4, when Dale Berra drew a walk and Milner unloaded a two-run circuit clout. After Milner's blast, Omar Moreno beat out a bunt, took second on a single by Tim Foli and reached third on an error by left fielder Larry Herndon. Dave Parker and Bill Madlock then walked to force home Moreno.

Cardinals 11, Padres 1 at St. Louis (night game):
The Cardinals ran their winning streak to four games with an 11-1 rout of the Padres as John Martin raised his record to 3-1 with his second complete game. Sixto Lezcano stroked RBI singles in the third and fifth inning and Martin, Tommy Herr and Garry Templeton also contributed run-scoring singles. Keith Hernandez climaxed the scoring with his fifth career grand slam home run in the eighth inning.
