Today's scores and summaries:

Angels 4, Indians 2 at California (night game):
A two-run homer by Don Baylor climaxed a four-run fifth inning that carried the Angels to a 4-3 triumph over the Indians. The Angels were behind, 2-0, when Larry Harlow began the rally with a single. After Harlow was forced a second by Rick Burleson, Rod Carew singled to put runners at first and third. Fred Lynn followed with a two-run double and, after Brian Downing flied out, Baylor cracked his ninth round-tripper of the season.

White Sox 3, Blue Jays 0 at Chicago (night game):
Five-hit pitching by Richard Dotson carried the White Sox to a 3-0 blanking of the Blue Jays, Toronto's ninth straight defeat and 11th shutout of the season. The Sox scored a run in the second inning when Chet Lemon and Wayne Nordhagen singled and Jim Morrison followed with a sacrifice fly. Lemon reached first base safely in the fourth when shortstop Danny Ainge booted his grounder and Nordhagen followed with an inside-the-park homer. Right fielder George Bell crashed into the railing while chasing Nordhagen's blow and suffered an injury to his right ankle. He was carried off on a stretcher and taken to a hospital for X-rays.

Yankees 8, Royals 5 at Kansas City (night game):
Roaring to their ninth straight victory, the Yankees defeated the Royals, 8-5. The Bronx Bombers trailed, 5-1, going into the third inning, but tied the game on a three-run homer by Dave Winfield and a solo shot by Graig Nettles. The Yankees went ahead, 6-5, in the fourth frame on a sacrifice fly by Oscar Gamble and picked up singletons in the sixth and seventh, respectively, on a run-scoring single by Willie Randolph and an error by K.C. third baseman George Brett. Rich Gossage pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to notch his 17th save.

Twins 3, Brewers 1 at Minnesota (night game):

They plated an insurance marker in the seventh on a run-scoring single by Wynegar.

The A's swept a doubleheader from the Orioles, winning the first game, 4-2, and capturing the nightcap, 3-2. The lidlifter was tied, 2-2, when Jim Spencer began the bottom of the seventh inning by reaching first safely as shortstop Mark Belanger booted his grounder. A single by Mike Heath and a walk to Mark Budaska then loaded the bases and Keith Drumright walked on four pitches from Jim Palmer to force home the go-ahead run. Tim Stoddard relieved Palmer and walked home another run. The score was 2-2 going into the bottom of the ninth inning of the second game when Heath drew a one-out walk, reached second on a single by Jeff Newman, advanced to third as pinch-hitter Wayne Gross bounced into a fielder's choice and scored on a single by Drumright.

Red Sox 10, Mariners 1 at Seattle (night game):

In the third, Morales singled home Mike Krukow, who had singled and reached second on a passed ball.

Expos 12, Braves 1 at Montreal (night game):
Tim Raines drove in three runs, scored three times and stole his 46th base in sparking the Expos to a 12-1 rout of the Braves, ending Montreal's five-game losing streak.
