Today's scores and summaries:

Angels 8, Red Sox 7 at California (night game):
The Angels fought back from two deficits to triumph over the Red Sox, 8-7 in 10 innings. The Sox jumped to a 6-0 lead in their first turn at bat but the Angels tied the contest at 6-6 on a two-out, run-scoring single by pinch-hitter John Harris in the ninth. After Jim Rice's homer in the 10th gave the Sox a 7-6 lead, the Angels came back in the bottom of the frame. Rick Burleson singled and Fred Lynn was hit by a pitch, bringing on Bob Stanley in relief of Tom Burgmeier. A sacrifice by Brian Downing moved the runners along and Don Baylor received an intentional walk to load the bases. Bobby Grich's broken-bat single to left plated the tying and winning runs.

Tigers 4, Royals 3 at Detroit (night game):
Pushing across a run in the bottom of the 10th inning, the Tigers edged the Royals, 4-3. With the score 3-3, Richie Hebner began the winning surge with a one-out single. After Kirk Gibson singled, Mick Kelleher ran for Hebner and came home when Lance Parrish lined a single to right.
