Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 6, Angels 2 at Baltimore (night game):
Scott McGregor outdueled Ken Forsch and Doug DeCinces belted his second grand slam homer of the season in the eighth inning to help the Orioles trim the Angels, 6-2. The deciding run came in the seventh when Jim Dwyer singled, advanced to second on Rick Dempsey's sacrifice, reached third on Terry Crowley's groundout and scored on an infield hit by Al Bumbry.

Red Sox 6, A's 5 at Boston (night game):
The Red Sox came from behind to edge the A's, 6-5, on a two-run homer by Dwight Evans with two out in the eighth inning. Evans' 15th homer, following a walk to Jerry Remy, made a winner of Bob Stanley, who pitched six scoreless innings in relief.

White Sox 3, Yankees 1 at Chicago (night game):
A walk to Ron LeFlore, his stolen base and a bunt single by Mike Squires set the stage for a three-run homer by Greg Luzinski in the last of the eighth that propelled the White Sox past the Yankees, 3-1. The game was called after a 49 minute rain delay with one out in the eighth, the third such interruption of the night.

Indians 12, Mariners 2 at Cleveland (night game):
A seven-run third inning marked the Indians' 12-2 rout of the Mariners. Jorge Orta drove in four runs with a pair of doubles and Toby Harrah brought in three with a two-run triple in the first inning, and a sacrifice fly.

Rangers 5, Brewers 1 at Milwaukee (night game):
With Danny Darwin pitching a four-hitter and Leon Roberts driving in four runs with a double and homer, the Rangers defeated the Brewers, 5-1. The Rangers went ahead 3-1 in the fourth when Roberts doubled following a single by Buddy Bell and a walk to Jim Sundberg.

Twins 4, Tigers 3 at Minnesota (night game):
The Twins rallied for four runs in the ninth inning to cool off the Tigers, 4-3. A two-run single by Pete Mackanin with two out was the decisive blow.

Royals 11, Blue Jays 5 at Toronto (day game):
Willie Aikens hit a two-run homer in a five-run fourth-inning explosion that sent the Royals on their way to an 11-5 victory over the Blue Jays. With the score 1-1 in the fourth, Darryl Motley and Cesar Geronimo singled and Rance Mulliniks doubled them home. Aikens' homer capped the big inning which sent the Jays to their fifth straight defeat.

Dodgers 6, Cubs 0 at Los Angeles (night game):
Fernando Valenzuela became the first 11-game winner of the major league season, allowing four hits while pitching the Dodgers to a 6-0 triumph over the Cubs. The Dodgers scored the only run they needed in the second when Bill Russell doubled, advanced on Valenzuela's single and came home when Steve Sax forced Valenzuela.

Expos 12, Reds 0 at Montreal (night game):
The Expos scored six runs in the third inning, five of them unearned, and went on to swamp the Reds, 12-0, completing the three-game sweep. John Milner hit a two-run homer in the third-inning deluge. Ray Burris limited the Reds to one hit over eight innings.

Mets 3, Astros 2 at New York (day game):
The Mets rallied for two runs in the eighth inning to nudge the Astros, 3-2. Hubie Brooks doubled, scoring Frank Taveras with the winning run after Taveras had delivered a game-tying single.

Cardinals 3, Padres 2 at San Diego (night game):
A homer by George Hendrick, who drove in all three of the Cardinals' runs, enabled the Redbirds to subdue the Padres, 3-2 in 13 innings. The Padres had tied the score, 2-2, in the ninth on singles by Gene Richards, Terry Kennedy and Broderick Perkins.

Giants 5, Pirates 4 at San Francisco (night game):
Jack Clark hit a home run in the 13th inning to lift the Giants over the Pirates, 5-4. It was the fourth run batted in of the game for Clark, who doubled with the bases full in the fifth.
