Indians 4, Orioles 1 at Baltimore (night game):
John Denny lost his bid for his fourth straight shutout but combined with Dan Spillner on a six-hitter as the Indians defeated the Orioles, 4-1. The Orioles ended the streak of 34 scoreless innings for Denny in the eighth. Rick Dempsey led off with a single and was forced at second on Al Bumbry's grounder. Bumbry advanced on a groundout and scored on Ken Singleton's single. The Tribe scored the deciding run in the sixth when Rick Manning doubled, took third as Jorge Orta flied out and scored on Mike Hargrove's sacrifice fly.
White Sox 12, Brewers 6 at Milwaukee (night game):
The White Sox capitalized on errors by Ted Simmons, Paul Molitor, Reggie Cleveland and Don Money to score four runs in the seventh inning and went on to beat the Brewers, 12-6.
Blue Jays 2, Mariners 0 at Toronto (night game):
Luis Leal and Joey McLaughlin limited the Mariners to six hits, Ernie Whitt doubled home a run in the fifth inning and Jesse Barfield homered in the seventh to produce a 2-0 triumph for the Blue Jays.
