Angels 10, Red Sox 2 at Boston (night game):
Driving in four runs with a homer, single, sacrifice fly and squeeze bunt, Tim Foli led the Angels to a 10-2 romp over the Red Sox as Bruce Kison went the route on a four-hitter. The Angels scored four times in the second inning on RBI singles by Rod Carew, Foli and Bob Boone and Brian Downing's sacrifice fly. Successive homers by Downing and Bobby Grich highlighted another four-run outburst in the sixth.

Royals 7, White Sox 4 at Chicago (night game):
Willie Aikens, Cesar Geronimo and Jerry Martin drove in two runs each to lead the Royals to a 7-4 triumph over the White Sox. Aikens snapped a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning with a two-run double. Geronimo, who drove in the first K.C. run in the fourth, hit a solo homer in the sixth and Martin drilled a two-run pinch-double in the seventh.

A's 10, Brewers 5 at Milwaukee (night game):
The A's snapped their five-game losing streak by thumping the Brewers, 10-5. Oakland took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Dan Meyer and a sacrifice fly by Wayne Gross. Danny Goodwin and Jeff Newman delivered run-scoring singles in the third, and Meyer's third double of the game produced a fourth-inning tally.

Indians 7, Twins 0 at Minnesota (night game):
Scattering seven hits, Lary Sorensen hurled the Indians to a 7-0 blanking of the Twins. The Tribe tallied in the second inning on a pair of errors, Von Hayes cracked a three-run homer in the third and Ron Hassey and Alan Bannister smacked leadoff circuit clouts in the fourth and seventh innings, respectively.

Yankees 8, Blue Jays 0 at New York (night game):
Yielding only five hits, Tommy John unfurled his second shutout of the season as the Yankees defeated the Blue Jays, 8-0. The Yanks tallied three runs in the second inning on a two-run single by Dave Collins and double-play grounder by Willie Randolph. A leadoff homer by Roy Smalley and Oscar Gamble's three-run circuit clout keyed a five-run seventh.

Mariners 7, Tigers 6 at Seattle (night game):
Pushing across a run in the ninth inning, the Mariners edged the Tigers, 7-6. With the game tied, 6-6, Todd Cruz opened the bottom of the ninth with a single and Jim Maler reached first on an error by third baseman Mark DeJohn. Paul Serna attempted to sacrifice but forced Cruz at third. Julio Cruz hit into a forceout as Joe Simpson, pinch-running for Maler, reached third. Dave Henderson then followed with the game-winning single. The Mariners had tied the score in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run single by Rick Sweet and Al Cowens' RBI single.

Orioles 10, Rangers 3 at Texas (night game):
Gary Roenicke hit two homers and John Lowenstein added another to help Jim Palmer notch his 250th career victory as the Orioles bombed the Rangers, 10-3. Lowenstein delivered a sacrifice fly in the first inning and a two-run circuit clout in the third. Roenicke drilled two-run shots in the sixth and seventh.

Braves 10, Mets 2 at Atlanta (night game):
Larry Whisenton went 4-for-4, including a triple and two RBIs, to pace the Braves to a 10-2 thumping of the Mets. Atlanta sent 14 batters to the plate while scoring eight runs in the second inning. The runs came on a solo homer by Dale Murphy, RBI triple by Whisenton, sacrifice fly by Bruce Benedict, RBI double by Claudell Washington, three-run homer by Glenn Hubbard and Whisenton's single.

Reds 4, Phillies 3 at Cincinnati (night game):
Rallying for four runs in the eighth inning, the Reds snapped a six-game losing streak by shading the Phillies, 4-3. The Reds trailed, 3-0, when Wayne Krenchicki ignited the outburst with a one-out single. Larry Biittner followed with a pinch single and Eddie Milner rapped an RBI double. After a walk to Alex Trevino loaded the bases, Dave Concepcion delivered a two-run single. Dan Driessen then slashed a run-scoring single to boost the Reds to their triumph.

Expos 6, Astros 1 at Houston (night game):
David Palmer, making his first big league start since 1980, gave up only two hits in six innings and Andre Dawson drove in four runs with two homers and a double to lead the Expos to their fifth straight victory, 6-1 over the Astros. Montreal took the lead in the second inning on a two-run homer by Gary Carter. Dawson homered in the third and eighth and cracked a two-run double in the ninth.

Dodgers 5, Pirates 2 at Los Angeles (night game):
Fernando Valenzuela spaced five hits in pitching the Dodgers to a 5-2 victory over the Pirates. the Dodgers broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning on a triple by Pedro Guerrero and a double by Steve Garvey, and added two more runs in the seventh on singles by Dusty Baker and Guerrero.

Padres 2, Cubs 1 at San Diego (night game):
The Padres edged the Cubs, 2-1, despite losing pitcher Fergie Jenkins getting his 3,000th career strikeout. Jenkins, who joined six other major league pitchers in attaining the 3,000 strikeout mark, reached that goal by fanning Garry Templeton in the third inning. He went on to strike out three more and run his career total to 3,003. In the Padres' second inning, Sixto Lezcano singled and scored on a double by Terry Kennedy, who then came home on Broderick Perkins' single.

Cardinals 8, Giants 3 at San Francisco (night game):
A three-run uprising in the sixth inning spurred the Cardinals to an 8-3 decision over the Giants. The Redbirds broke a 3-3 tie on an RBI groundout by Keith Hernandez and two-run infield single by Glenn Brummer. Ken Oberkfell, who had a run-scorng single in the fourth, iced the game with a two-run triple in the seventh. Dave LaPoint, going 6 2/3 innings, received credit for his third victory.
