The Blue Jays linked back-to-back doubles by Cliff Johnson and Buck Martinez with a single by Alfredo Griffin to score two runs in the second inning and went on to beat the Yankees, 3-1.

Pirates 5, Expos 4 at Pittsburgh (night game):
The Pirates squeezed out a 5-4 victory over the Expos when Tony Pena doubled, scoring Jason Thompson from second base in the 10th inning. Thompson walked and advanced on Mike Easler's sacrifice before Pena delivered his game-winning hit.
