Roy Thinnes returns to TV as Dr. James Whitman, a psychiatrist who utilizes all of the effective techniques of modern psychiatry. Luther Adler costars as Dr. Bernard Altman in this fourth segment of NBC-Universal's Four-in-One series. In the first episode, Dr. Whitman is caught between wanting to help his patient with methadone and the law prohibiting paroled ex-addicts from using any kind of drugs.

A Vietnam veteran who saw his squad wiped out and came home to find his wife cheating on him starts to open up to the group but stops short, deciding to end not only therapy, but his life.
