Glenn Ford and Julie Harris star as a Depression-era preacher and his wife who attempt to survive hard times in the rural South. In the premiere episode, the first of a two-part drama, the Holvaks unwittingly provide refuge to a convict, unaware that their son Ramey was an accomplice in the man's escape from a chain gang.
